My experience in the Oil & Gas Industry is very diverse. I have performed Wellsite Geology, Wellsite Management, Midstream Logistical and Operations Support Management, and Geoscience Technical support on the Production Team, as well as on the Exploration Team. Outside of the Oil & Gas Industry, I have experience in other aspects of the geosciences: Research and Instruction. My skills and qualifications often overlap. I believe that knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office are universal; whereas, knowledge of GeoGraphix is more specific to exploration and production work. I also possess skills and experience that helps to highlight my mental discipline.
Some of the skills that I have developed in my career in the Oil & Gas Industry include:
Some of the Qualifications that I have earned throughout my science education include:
Research, Laboratory, & Field Experience – Described geology, paleogeography, facies changes, and diagenesis of west Texas oil & gas fields by evaluating drill cuttings, cores, graphic logs and electric logs. I have analyzed drill cuttings and cores, as well as experience making thin sections.
Field Mapping – Created hand drawn and GIS generated geologic maps of structurally complex geologic regions of west Texas.
GIS & GPS Applications – Collected GPS points in mapping area, used ESRI ArcGIS software to differentially correct the data and upload to GIS applications, then manipulated points to easily relay data in a visual medium.
Computer Applications Experience – Utilized GeoGraphix to create cross section diagrams within the Permian Basin from the Central Basin Platform to the Eastern Shelf, researched and made subsurface maps of producing zones within the wolfberry play with GeoGraphix.
I took the initiative to attend a two day course on the fundamentals of Petra, a geological analytical and database software similar to GeoGraphix.
I have been utilizing MS Office applications for over 15 years. I have utilized Windows based PCs for Data management through spreadsheets, and technical reports in Word. Used MS DOS to download data from uplinked satellites, massaged raw data into a database and analyzed data using a sophisticated visualization program. These qualifications I feel are universal.
Some of the skills that I have developed in my career in the Oil & Gas Industry include:
- Trained in Sedimentology and Stratigraphy through both classroom instruction, as well as practical experience in the lab and the field
- Knowledge of depositional environments and diagenesis of clastic and carbonate rocks
- Experience analyzing drill cuttings and creating graphic logs of Permian Basin and Fort Worth Basin wells
- Adept at extensive research on stratigraphy, sequence stratigraphy, & deposition
- Familiarity with petroleum exploration and production operations, including wellsite operations, procedures, and policies
- Communicates concisely and professionally in both written and oral reports
- Relayed and taught new methods and practices, resulting in time savings & improved safety practices
- Created reports and updated off-site personnel daily, and discussed well site operations with key on-site personnel
- Worked in Wolfberry of the Permian Basin, and the Barnett in the Fort Worth Basin
- Trained new employees who consistently met management’s expectations,
- Reviewed work performed by trainees for accuracy, and gave constructive feedback on performance
- Recognizes how to relay advanced scientific concepts in a structured, and articulated style to colleagues, as well as laypersons
- Built and maintained a database of searchable well data
- Ability to identify sequence stratigraphic expressions in clastic and carbonate rocks
- Gained knowledge of depositional environments and diagenesis of clastic and carbonate rocks
- Adept at extensive research on stratigraphy, sequence stratigraphy, & deposition
- Effectively analyze, interpret, & describe graphic logs, electric logs, & seismic data to produce detailed geological analysis models of a well, or an area of interest, and to generate complex subsurface maps & cross sections with advanced analytical software such as LMKR GeoGraphix and IHS Petra
- Performed Wellsite Geology Management in the Marathon Thrust Belt, learned to recognize and mark formation changes and payzones, communicated daily with Production Geologists, worked with multidisciplinary units at the rigsite.
