Hello,
I am seeking to obtain an entry level geologist position at a dynamic and innovative company that recognizes my unique value, and will let me utilize my experience and knowledge in geology and business. I am a prime candidate for an entry level geologist position, because I possess nearly six years of experience in the oil & gas industry. Nearly five of those years were at the rig, performing mudlogging duties as a well site geologist, in wellsite geological management, and wellsite logistical support management in the Permian and Fort Worth Basins, as well as the Marathon Thrust Belt. I also have over a year as a geological technologist, in which I managed well folders, and logs on the production side. On the exploration team, I produced complex geological models of AOIs utilizing graphic logs, electric logs, and seismic data.
I have earned a Master of Science degree in Geology from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa, Texas, where I was named as the Outstanding Geology Graduate Student by the Geology Faculty. My thesis was a subsurface core analysis on the Cambrian Wilberns Formation in central Texas focusing on depositional environment and cycle stratigraphy. In October of 2015 I was asked to present my thesis work at the West Texas Geological Society Annual Symposium in Midland, where I discussed the complexity of the Wilberns Formation with many Permian Basin geologists. I was asked to present my work again at the Southwest Section AAPG conference in Abilene in April 2016.
I am currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree online, with concentrations in Energy Business and Finance, through the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Currently, I am maintaining a 3.9 GPA. An MBA will be priceless asset to me over the course of my career in the oil and gas industry. I will complete the requirements for a general MBA in December of this year, and will complete my requirements for my concentrations by December of 2018. Being versed in the technical facets, as well as the business and finance aspects of the Oil & Gas industry, I would be an essential asset to your company, because I am looking to add value in both the technical side as well as a sound business approach as I grow within the company.
Some highlights of my abilities that would be beneficial to a prospective employer include:
- Effectively analyze, interpret, & describe core, drill cuttings, graphic logs, electric logs, & seismic data to produce detailed geological analysis
of a well, or an area of interest.
- Extensive experience working with GeoGraphix, using well data to build depositional models of the Permian Basin, and fundamental training
to perform similar work with IHS Petra.
- Enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams on intricate projects that include multifaceted problems.
- Self-motivated, efficient problem solver, who is analytically minded, adaptable and flexible to new skills
- Extensive experience teaching and mentoring fellow geologists, as well as team members with diverse specialization backgrounds.
Official copies of my transcripts, and a digital copy of my Graduate Thesis can be mailed at your request. References and unofficial copies of my transcripts can be emailed immediately upon your request.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best Regards,
Michael Jordon Haubert
